Emerging Enterprise Center Announces Finalists for the 1st Annual EEC Luncheon Featuring the Swim with the Sharks Video Pitch Competition
New Castle, DE, September 2016: The Emerging Enterprise Center has officially announced the three finalists of the Swim with the Sharks Video Pitch Competition. The Swim with the Sharks program began in June with a workshop on “How to Use Video to Market” and a workshop in July on “How to Create an Effective Pitch.” These workshops were all in an effort to educate submitters and the business community as a whole how to create a video pitch. The submission process was a month long from August to September. A panel of judges rated and voted on the videos on Friday, September 16th and the finalists were contacted and announced. The three finalists are:
- JADE Biotech LLC, a University of Delaware graduate that has invented a narcotics waste well to help reduce waste, cost, and drug abuse.
- Vibrating Therapeutic Apparel, a University of Delaware graduate that has invented a sleeve for amputees to manage their phantom leg pain.
- NERDiTNOW, a University of Delaware graduate that is offering a mobile solution and wide range of products and services for IT repairs and troubleshooting.
The winner of the Grand Prize of $5,000 in cash and services will be voted on live via text to vote at the 1st Annual EEC Luncheon at the World Café Live at the Queen on September 23rd.

SBDC’S ‘What is your Business Worth?’ Workshop: Set for August 3 at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino
The Delaware Small Business Development Center (DSBDC) and the Delaware Business Times will host the workshop “Do You Know What Your Business is Really Worth?” on Wednesday, August 3 from 7:30-10 a.m. at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Dover.
Two subject matter experts, David K. Bernstein and Judith Scarborough, will lead the workshop. Bernstein is principal of RLS Associates, a mergers and acquisitions firm. Scarborough is director at Master Sidlow & Associates, certified public accountants.
Those who attend will learn:
- What are the most important things to consider in valuing a business;
- What can be done to enhance the value of the business; and
- The good, the bad and the ugly; real stores of business valuations.

New Sponsors for the Swim with the Sharks Video Pitch Competition
The official launch of the Swim with the Sharks Video Pitch Competition has begun. We have several key activities surrounding the event. Two workshops, submission of videos, and a the luncheon to announce the winner. Our first workshop took place earlier this week on “How to Use Video to Market your Business” by Bill Bardell of K-Video & Web Productions, the Official Videographer of the EEC. The second workshop is on “How to Create an Effective Pitch” by Frank DeSantis, Mac Nagaswami, and Pedro Moore. This event will be on July 14 at 8:30 am at the NCC Chamber of Commerce. These two workshops not only help the business community as a whole but also the companies that are considering submitting a video for the competition. The video submission will begin on August 12th and run until September 12th. The finalists will be announced by the 19th and the winners will be announced live a the EEC Luncheon at the World Cafe Live at the Queen.
This three month event would not able to work without its supporters. We have several sponsors for the event and adding more as we speak.
